Israelis to receive more 120mm mortars

Elbit Systems Land and C4I Ltd. is to supply the Israeli military with 120mm mortars.

The Cardom artillery system, called Keshet by the Israeli military, features innovative fire control, navigation, automatic aiming and propulsion systems. It is operational in the Israeli military as well as various armies in Europe, the United States and other countries.

Elbit Systems Ltd., parent company of Elbit Systems Land and C4I, said this week the order is part $315 million in awards from Israel's Ministry of Defense announced last month and is also a follow-on to a 2011 contract for the Israeli military.

"This additional IMOD contract attests to the maturity and the quality of the Cardom's operational performance in the (Israeli military) and other armies worldwide," said Udi Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems Land and C4I. "We are witnessing a growing global demand for the supply of advanced artillery systems and we hope that additional customers will select our solutions to address their artillery needs."

The mortars will be delivered to the Israeli military over a period of six years.
