Royal Navy takes delivery of its second NLS type Astute


The "White Ensign" flag of the Royal Navy fleet now on HMS Ambush. Second nuclear submarine Astute attack type, the building was officially received by the British Navy announced it January 18. Joining his older brother, HMS Astute, supplied by BAE Systems in 2010, the new SNA will continue testing for admission to active duty by next year.

In all, seven submarines of this type must be constructed, ranging deliveries until 2022.

Manned by a crew of 98 men and with the possibility of hosting 11 commandos, they can reach speeds of 29 knots and are equipped with six 533mm tubes for the implementation of 38 Spearfish torpedoes and Tomahawk cruise missiles.
