Sagem (Safran) acquires Swiss company Colibrys SA


European leader in navigation systems, Sagem (Safran) acquires Swiss Colibrys SA, specializing in micro-motion sensors (acceleration and vibration) of high-performance silicon-based technologies MEMS1.

World-class expert in this field, Colibrys is a leading supplier in the fields of energy, robotics, defense, automotive, rail, instrumentation and infrastructure. It is also a longtime partner of Sagem accelerometers that integrates its accuracy across a range of facilities for the benefit of major aircraft manufacturers (Airbus, Bombardier, Dassault Aviation, Eurocopter, HAL, ...).

With this acquisition, Sagem expanded its technology portfolio for navigation solutions and stabilization, thus completing its recognized expertise in the field of inertial sensors, gyros (mechanical, laser gyro, fiber optic and vibrating) and accelerometer (tilting and vibrating ).


With a staff of about 70 people, Colibrys generates annual sales of approximately 12 million. Colibrys maintain its ties with its customers and partners in Switzerland and abroad. The company will also benefit from all new installations in Yverdon-les-Bains (Canton of Vaud).
